URGENT URGENT URGENT

Dear All,

Due to the very poor take up for the march - currently only 1/4 of a single mini-bus, it is utterly financially impossible to make the Dunkirk March work, so with regret I am afraid that we are going to have to knock it on the head .. It's a shame, but it simply can't work without more than half a section to do it with

C'est la Guerre, probably due to the profusion of Brit VE day events recently.

Also as stated previously, I won't be organising another at any time in the future

That's a pity, Jon... But totally understandable if that's all we have committed to the trip.

Lads - If you were going and haven't put a foot forward can you shout out NOW just in case this can be brought back from the dead?

Sorry to hear it not going to happen but I think the problem (and the poor response after so much initial interest) was the lack of communication in the last month or two leaving everyone just a little unsure what the plans were and even if it was really going to happen at all. (Then late in the day just a 2 line email asking for money with no real outline of the plans). I really didn't want to miss Dunkirk this time round and I know for myself that’s why as time passed and it got closer to the date I thought it necessary to make other arrangements to make sure I will be there for the celebrations.

As I say it’s a real shame it came to this as I really wanted to do this event but I hope you do manage to get enough people together to pull it off and we see you all in Dunkirk for a well earned beer.

Am really disappointed,after the huge interest and people putting their names forward everyones changed their minds.i was looking forward to this,cant get anymore living history than to experience it.

shame as we wont get the opportunity again.

are the numbers really so low? suppose if the trip costs cant be covered there are no other options

Deebo - Not everyone changed their minds... Just a lack of deposits made as I understand from Jon and radio silence from a lot of previously interested parties...

that's what I meant about changing minds,people saying they would be up for it and then were not forth coming with deposits etc.

oh well.will have to try and find something else to do

I've signed up for the MV tour thing which will probably mean lots of standing around. What will those of you who are going to France be doing ?

It would be nice to have a chat with anyone interested in the BEF and their kit.

I'm now going to go to Dunkirk with the Spirit of Britain lads... They had one space left on their transport... So we'll be over there next weekend over 30/31... Looking forward to it!

I DID post quite a bit ahead of time that I would not be able to make it, but I am certainly thankful that I did not purchase a plane ticket!
