Is this a 1939 Pattern Intrenching tool?
Just spotted this on Ebay and thought the handle didn't look very German. Is it a 1939 Pattern entrenching tool?

The paint may be covering the markings, but that is exactly the same as my original 39 pattern entrenching tool.

Thanks. Has yours got the rivets holding the folded over bits too? May I ask the maker and year of yours?

Yes, the rivets are there holding the folded over bits. The back of the wooden handle has P39 stamped into the wood and the back side of the blade has the date 1940 and the broad arrow stamped in quarter inch high characters along one edge just below the fold-over. There are no other markings.

Checked again, and there are the very faint letters O C or O G before he 1940. There may be another letter but the back side of the blade is painted black to halfway down.

SOF are claiming this to be an original entrenching tool and quite a nice large close up photo if you click on it

Yep, that looks exactly like the one I have Rich. That small scraped area in the black paint on the right rear side of the blade is where the markings/date are stamped.
